Marian exiles
During the reign of Mary I, John Strype says more than 800 English protestants fled to the continent (predominantly the Low Countries, Germany, Switzerland, and France) and joined with reformed churches there or formed their own congregations. (A few exceptions are exiles who went to Scotland, Denmark, and other Scandinavian countries.
