Madhavrao I Scindia



Madhavrao I Scindia (born 1730, died February 12, 1794), popularly known as Madhoji or Mahadji, was a ruler of Gwalior state in central India. Mahadji was instrumental in resurrecting Maratha power after the debacle of the Third Battle of Panipat in 1761, and rose to become a trusted lieutenant of the Peshwa, leader of the Maratha Confederacy, as well as the Mughal emperor Shah Alam.
