Machapunga
The Machapunga were a very small Native American tribe of Algonquian descent, now disappeared, who once occupied a coastal area of northeastern North Carolina, living in a village called Mattamuskeet on the shore of Lake Mattamuskeet. The tribe was described by Europeans in 1701 as containing roughly 100 members.
