Neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia
Neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (or -paenia, NAITP or NAIT for short; or feto-maternal alloimmune thrombocytopenia or -paenia, FMAITP or FMAIT) is a disease that affects fetuses and newborns. It occurs when the newborn's mother has antibodies against a certain human platelet antigen found on the baby's platelets, and the baby has some of those antibodies, having acquired them via the placenta.
