The National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA), an American women's rights organization, was formed as an amalgamation of the National Woman Suffrage Association and the American Woman Association in May of 1890. NAWSA was the largest and most important suffrage organization in the United States until the passage in 1920 of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.
