Nalidixic acid
Nalidixic acid (NegGram®)is the basis for quinolone antibiotics. It acts bacteriostatically (that is, it inhibits growth and reproduction) or bactericidally (it kills them) on both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, depending on the concentration.
