Neutron activation
Neutron activation is the process in which neutron radiation induces radioactivity in materials, and occurs when nuclei capture free neutrons, becoming heavier and entering excited states. Frequently, the excited nucleus can decay by emitting particles (neutrons, protons, alphas, etc.
