Octadecanoid pathway
The Octadcanoid pathway is a reasonably well characterized biosynthetic pathway for the production of the phytohormone jasmonic acid (JA). JA is synthesized from alpha linolenic acid, which can be released from the plasma membrane by certain lipase enzymes.
