*The Modern English adjectival suffix -ic was first seen as a suffix in English during the Middle English period. It was borrowed in words from Old French '-ique', which came from Latin '-icus', which came ultimately from Ancient Greek '-ÎąÎşÎżĎ (-ikos)'.
