1982 invasion of the Falkland Islands
Argentina mounted an invasion of the Falkland Islands on April 2, 1982 after the civilian occupation of South Georgia on March 19, before the Falklands War began. This article describes the initial defence organised by the Falkland Islands' Governor Sir Rex Hunt giving command to Major Mike Norman RM, the landing of Lieutenant-Commander Guillermo Sanchez-Sabarots' Special Forces, the attack on Moody Brook Barracks, the battle between the troops of Hugo Santillan and Bill Trollope at Stanley, and the attacks and final surrender of Government House.
