2002 DNS Backbone DDoS
The 2002 DNS Backbone DDoS was a significant Internet event in which a distributed denial of service attack targeted the thirteen main DNS root servers on October 22, 2002 for approximately one hour. Of the thirteen servers, nine were disabled but the remaining four were able to cope.
