Äổi má»›i
Äổi má»›i (renovation) is the name given to the economic reforms initiated by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the mid-1980s. As a result of Äổi má»›i many free-market enterprises were permitted (and, indeed, later encouraged) by the Communist Party of Vietnam; furthermore, the push to collectivize the industrial and agricultural operations of Vietnam, previously the focus of intense efforts by the Communist authorities, was essentially abandoned.
