2: or a dois: is a Portuguese Television broadcasting service of the RTP network. Commonly referred as the "Second Channel", this historically state-run broadcast service started its regular and independent broadcasting in 1978 (the first test broadcasts were made in 1968, from May to September, and the channel retransmited RTP´s broadcast until 1976) as an alternative to the mainstream broadcasting service of RTP.
