Pamlico Ravine

The Pamlico Ravine is referred to geographically by some of its natives as the region loosely surrounding the Tar River and Pamlico River territories in and around Beaufort County, in eastern North Carolina, a state on the eastern edge of the United States. The term "ravine" is a misnomer, as the area lies in the state's coastal plain, consisting largely of flat wooded areas interlaced with various navigable and non-navigable waterways stemming from the rivers mentioned above.
