Quaternions and spatial rotation
The algebra of quaternions is a useful mathematical tool for formulating the composition of arbitrary spatial rotations and establishing the correctness of algorithms founded upon such compositions. These methods find broad application in computer generated graphics, robotics, global navigation, and the spatial orientation of instruments.
