Red Guards (Finland)
During the Civil War in Finland, 1918, the Red Guards were the socialist and communist revolutionaries of Finland who were defeated by the anti-Socialist White Guards and (Imperial) German forces, who feared the Russian Revolution was spread to Finland by the Reds' rebellion. The combined strength of the Red Guard was about 30,000 in the beginning of the Civil War, and it peaked at 90,000-120,000 in the course of the conflict.
