Adi Shankaracharya established 4 Maths in the four cardinal directions of Bharat Varsha. Those are Sri Sharada Peetham in Dwaraka, Sri Sringeri Peetham at Sringeri Karnataka, Sri Jyotish Peetham at Badarikashram in North and Sri Govardhan Peetham in Jagannatha Puri at East.
