Rauhes Haus
The Rauhes Haus (literally rough house, but not meant that way, though probably applicable) was founded as a home for orphaned children in Hamburg, Germany, by the theologian Johann Hinrich Wichern on September 12, 1883. He used premises donated by Karl Sieveking, including a house called "Ruges Hus" after a former owner, from which the name "Rauhes Haus" likely derives.
