Ramanandi sect

This denomination, it is widely believed, has played a powerful role in shaping the social and spiritual climate of the populous Ganga valley. The Ramanandi movement owes its origin to the saint Ramananda, who lived in Varanasi in the 14th century, and influenced such popular Indian saints like Tulsidas and Kabir among others.
