Takeshi Kovacs
Takeshi Kovacs (pronounced "Ko-vach," Hungarian for "Smith", the same in Slovak if written as KovaÄŤ) is the prime character of the books "Altered Carbon", "Broken Angels", and "Woken Furies" by Richard Morgan, which take place several centuries in the future.
