Tanis, Egypt



Tanis (Τάνις), the Greek name of ancient Djanet (modern صان الحجر Ṣān al-Ḥaǧar), is a city in the north-eastern Nile delta of Egypt. It lays on the Tanitic branch of the Nile (now silted up).
