Northwest Semitic Tammuz (Hebrew תַּמּוּז, Standard Hebrew Tammuz, Tiberian Hebrew TammĂ»z), Arabic ŘŞŮ…Ů‘Ůز TammĹ«z; Akkadian DuĘľzu, DĹ«zu; Sumerian Dumuzid (DUMU.ZID "the true son") was the name of an Ancient Near Eastern deity.
