Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority



The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA), also called the UHURU railway from the Swahili word for Freedom, was established in the 1970s to build a railway to serve landlocked Zambia as an alternative to rail lines via apartheid-controlled Rhodesia and South Africa.
