Tenpo famine



The Tenpo famine (天保の飢饉, Tenpo no kiken), also known as the "Great Tenpo famine" (天保の大飢饉, Tenpo no daikiken) was a famine which affected Tenpo era Japan. It is considered to have begun in 1832 or 1833, and lasted until 1836 or 1839.
