Although Camellia sinensis can grow in Hawaii and along the eastern coast of the United States (where it is typically grown as an ornamental plant and for personal use), currently the US only has one commercial tea plantation, in Charleston South Carolina, and a collective of roughly 40 small growers in Hawaii
