Ushkuiniks
The ushkuiniks (Russian: ŃŃĐşŃйники) were medieval Novgorodian pirates who led the Viking-like life of fighting, killing, and robbery. Their name derives from "ushkui", a type of flat-bottom medieval Russian ship, which could be easily transported over portages between the rivers.
