United Nations Security Council Resolution 1591
Resolution 1591 was adopted by the United Nations Security Council by 12 votes in favour and three abstentions (Algeria, China, and the Russian Federation) on 27 March 2005. The resolution calls for sanctions against those "responsible for committing violence in Darfur or impeding the peace process continues efforts to end impunity and as a down payment towards justice and accountability.
