United States Ambassador to Pakistan
In the 19th century the area of south Asia that is now Pakistan was ruled by the United Kingdom as part of the British Raj, which also included India. The area of the Raj was a collection of princely states, governed by Rajas under British rule since the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
