USS Aspro (SSN-648)
USS Aspro (SSN-648), a Sturgeon-class submarine, was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for the aspro, a fish found abundantly in the upper Rhone River. The contract to build her was awarded to Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi on 26 March 1963 and her keel was laid down on 23 November 1964.
