Underlay
Underlay is a thin layer of cushioned material usually made of sponge rubber (the most popular), foam or crumb rubber (made from recycled car tyres) that is underlaid under a carpet to provide underfoot comfort and to protect the carpet throughout its life. Underlays also provide insulation against sound, moisture and heat, thus minimising heating bills.
