Ulster Workers' Council Strike
The Ulster Workers Council (UWC) Strike was a general strike which took place between Wednesday 15 May 1974 and Tuesday 28 May 1974 in Northern Ireland. The strike was called in protest at the proposals in the Sunningdale Agreement which would have meant unionists sharing power with nationalists, and a role for the government of the Republic of Ireland in the governance of Northern Ireland, and was enforced by loyalist paramilitaries.
