USS Bates (DE-68)
USS Bates (DE-68/APD-47), a Buckley-class destroyer escort of the United States Navy, was named in honor of Ensign Edward M. Bates (19 September 1919-7 December 1941), who was killed on board the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
