USS Black Hawk
There have been four naval vessels named USS Black Hawk, named after the Saux-Fox War Chief (Makataimeshekiakiak) who lead a small party of his tribe from Iowa to his native Illinois. This action ensued the Black Hawk War (1832), which helped make names of Zachary Taylor, Jefferson Davis and included a captain in the Illinois militia, Abraham Lincoln.
