Vic Godard
After just a handful of rehearsals, Subway Sect debuted at the legendary 100 Club Punk Festival on Monday 20th September 1976. Sex Pistols' manager Malcolm McLaren had suggested that Vic Godard and his mates (a bunch of south-west London soul boys, who hung out at Sex Pistols' gigs) should form a band to help swell the number of acts in a line-up that already included the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Buzzcocks, Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Vibrators.
