Virtual serial port
Virtual serial port is a trade term used by certain vendors of COM port redirector software that emulates a serial port (RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485). Virtual serial ports are created by special software which enables extra serial ports in the operating system without using additional hardware (such as expansion cards, etc.
