Valeen Tippetts Avery (1936 - 2006) was an American biographer and historian best known for her work on Western American and Latter Day Saint history. With biographer Linda King Newell, she co-authored Mormon Enigma: Emma Hale Smith, a biography of the wife of the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, Joseph Smith, Jr..
