Vice President of the Republic of China
The Vice President of the Republic of China () is the second-highest executive official of the Republic of China, a political entity that since 1949 has consisted mainly of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. The existing office was created in 1948 under the 1947 Constitution of the Republic of China, but soon afterwards, the Kuomintang lost mainland China to the Communists in the Chinese Civil War, forcing the ROC government, along with its presidency, to retreat to Taiwan.
