Variscan mountains
The Variscan Mountains were a chain of mountains formed in a continental collision, which started in the Devonian period and ended in the Permian period. The Old Red Sandstone continent in the north (present day North America, Britain and Scandinavia) collided with the southern continent of Gondwana (Present day Africa, Antarctica and Australia), to form the supercontinent of Pangea.
