Washington Consensus

The Washington Consensus is a phrase initially coined in the early 1990s to describe a relatively specific set of ten macroeconomic policy prescriptions that were considered by the phrase's originator to constitute a "standard" reform package promoted for crisis-wracked countries by Washington-based institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and U.S.
