Wang Dan



Wang Dan (Chinese: 王丹; Pinyin: Wáng Dān) (born February 26, 1969), a leader of the Chinese democracy movement, was one of the most visible of the student leaders in the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. Then a freshman at the Peking University, he was arrested and sentenced twice, in 1989 and 1995, for conspiring to overthrow the Communist Party of China.
