Weddell Seal
The Weddell Seal (Leptonychotes weddellii), a "true seal", is named after Sir James Weddell, commander of British sealing expeditions in the Weddell Sea. They occur in large numbers and inhabit the circumpolar region of the southern hemisphere, including Antarctica.
