X-convention
The x-convention or iksokodo or iksa-sistemo is a way of writing Esperanto that is compatible with ASCII-only systems such as certain e-mail clients. Since Esperanto does not use the letter X in its native words, many Esperanto enthusiasts have taken to using the letter to signal a diacritical mark that is not available in 7-bit ASCII, placing the "x" after the letter that would have the diacritic in a Unicode-compliant application.
