Yamakawa Hiroshi



Yamakawa Hiroshi (山川浩; 1845-March 6, 1898) Japanese samurai of the late Edo period who went on to become a noted general of the early Meiji era. An Aizu retainer famous for his ingenious strategy during the Boshin War, he would later be one of the first people from Aizu to write a history of the years leading up to the war, together with his brother Yamakawa Kenjiro.
