Yiddishkeit

Yiddishkeit (Yidishkayt in standard transcription) literally means Judaism or "Jewishness" in the Yiddish language. It has come to mean the "Jewishness" or "Jewish essence" of Ashkenazi Jews in general and the traditional Yiddish-speaking Jews of Eastern and Central Europe in particular.
