Zarqa Nawaz
Zarqa Nawaz, a Muslim Canadian woman of Pakistani origin born in Liverpool and raised in the Toronto area, is a freelance writer, broadcaster, and filmmaker living in Regina, Saskatchewan. Initially planning to go to medical school, after completing a Bachelor of Science degree Nawaz decided to study journalism, completing a second degree at Ryerson University in 1992.
